Paul E. Tanner
Paul E. Tanner, age 86, 105 Columbia Hill Road, Danville, died unexpectedly at his home early Saturday, December 7, 2013.
He was born in Valley Township on August 11, 1927, a son of the late Clyde and Maude (DeGreen) Tanner.Most of his life was spent in Valley Township.
Paul was last employed by the Kennedy Van Saun, Corp., Danville as a draftsman, last working in 1984.
A member of St. Paul's (Straub's) Lutheran Church, Frosty Valley and the American Legion, he enjoyed wood working and built his own home. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in his motor home.
Paul served with the US Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Miller and by a brother, Howard Tanner.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dolores A. Shipe, with whom he celebrated his 63rd wedding anniversary on June 24, 2013; two sons: William Paul Tanner, Allentown and Scott E. Tanner, Selinsgrove; a daughter, Carol M. , wife of Timothy Sones, Millville; two grandchildren: Kayla Tanner and Eric Tanner; and twin brothers: Carl Tanner, and his wife Pat, Riverside and Clyde Tanner, and his wife Ginny, Harrisonburg, Va.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with his pastor, Rev. Rebecca L. Horn officiating. Interment in Straub's Cemetery, Frosty Valley with military honors by American Legion Post 40, Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p. m.
