Aaron W. Metzger, age 82, 448 Frosty Valley Road, Danville, died at 1:12 p. m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Grandview Health & Rehabilitation where he resided since December 30, 2014.
Born in Lewis Township, Northumberland County, on March 27, 1935, he was a son of the late Henry R. and Hattie E. (Moser) Metzger. He spent his entire life in the Danville area.
Aaron was employed by the former TRW Corp. for many years and also owned Thomas Coal, Sand & Gravel, Danville for a number of years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Danville. He also belonged to the Danville VFW Post 298.
Aaron enjoyed going to the Danville Senior Center and he and his wife also enjoyed traveling and going out to restaurants.
He was a peacetime U. S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, the former Alice M. Hanna, with whom he observed his 17th wedding anniversary on November 2, 2017; a son, Allen Metzger, and his wife Cindy, Alabama; a daughter, Carolyn S. Swisher, with whom he resided; a son in law, Norman Swisher, Bloomsburg; a son in law, Bart Shrawder; Danville;11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Miller, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Iva Gettman, on October 22, 1999; a daughter, Nancy Shrawder and three brothers: Homer Metzger, Frank Metzger and Kenneth Metzger.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday , April 3, 2018, at 11 a. m. in the First Baptist Church, 20 Brookside Drive, Danville, with his pastor, Rev. Dawes J. Dunham officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Straub's Cemetery, Frosty Valley.
Viewing will be on Monday from 5-7 p. m. at the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville and on Tuesday at the church from 10-11 a. am.
