Alan R. Behrent
Alan R. Behrent, age 80, Danville, died early Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Grandview Health Homes, Danville where he resided since March. He was in failing health for several years.
Born in Shamokin on December 13, 1934, he was a son of the late L. Charles and Merelda R. (Reichold) Behrent. He was a 1953 graduate of the former Trevorton High School. His early life was spent in the Shamokin area and he later moved to Danville, where he resided for over 50 years.
Alan owned Behrent Automotive, Danville, from 1969 to 1979 and Behrent Vending Service , Danville and later Bloomsburg, from 1980 until retiring in 2003.
He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Ridgeville (Danville). He also was a social member of the Washington "Washies" Fire Co. and the East End Fire Company, both of Danville.
Alan was a very talented wine maker and photographer. He took his hobbies very seriously, growing his own wine grapes. He loved camping and his entire life revolved around his family.
He was preceded in death by a brother in law, Gib Wolfe.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth "Mickey" Jones, with whom he celebrated his 57th wedding anniversary on November 16, 2014 and is also a guest at Grandview; three sons: Alan R. Behrent, Jr., Benton; Scott A. Behrent, and his wife Cathy, Pittsfield, Mass.; Dale R. Behrent, and his wife Lisa M., Catawissa; seven grandchildren: Ashley, wife of Tom Scherben; Shaun Behrent; Corey Behrent; Meghan Behrent; Trevor Behrent; Tyler Behrent; Jamie Behrent; two great-granddaughters: Ruthie Scherben and soon to be born, Penny Scherben.
Also surviving are his twin sister, Dana Wolfe, Trevorton; two brothers: James Behrent, and his wife Sue, Spencerport, New York and Charles Behrent, and his wife Arlene, Mifflinburg; as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11:00 a. m. from the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with is pastor, Rev. Richard Shearer officiating. Interment in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Viewing from 10 to 11 a. m.
