Albert J. Mensch, Jr., age 69, 370-A Hollow Road, Catawissa, died at 11:22 a. m. Monday, March 17, 2014 in the emergency room of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. He was in failing health for the past eight years.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 28, 1944, he was the son of the late Albert J., Sr. and Mary Linda (Fowler) Mensch. He resided in the Mainville area for 47 years and the past two weeks with his daughter, Barbara.
He was last employed by Denny's Restaurant, Bloomsburg as a cook and previously was a mechanic at the fomer Bloomsburg Mills, Inc. and Catawese Coach Lines.
Albert served with the US Army during the Vietnam War era.
Albert was preceded in death by a son, Albert J. Mensch, III, on August 20, 2012.
Surviving are four children: Margaret H., wife of George Herb, Trevorton; Robert Floyd Mensch, and his wife Betty, Mt. Carmel; Barbara D., wife of Robert Rarick, with whom last resided; Linda L. Rupert, Shamokin; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; six brothers: William A. Mensch, Nescopeck; Edward E. Mensch and Carl O. Mensch, Almedia; Daniel A. Mensch, and his wife June, Hazleton; Robert J. Mensch, and his wife Jane, Berwick; Matthew E. Mensch, and his wife Rita, Espy; two sisters: Linda L., wife of David Smith, Orangeville and Mary J. Hosler, Maine.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Pastor Larry M. Smith of the Almedia Bible Church officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing Thursday from 1-2 p. m.
