Alice R. Hess

Alice R. Hess, age 90, 31 Hill Road, Orangeville, died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Berwick Hospital Center, where she was a patient for three days.

Born in Fishingcreek Township on December 25, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Harvey C. and Ethel Mae (Good) Kindig. She resided in Fishingcreek Township all her life, and was a 1942 graduate of the former Fishingcreek High School.

Alice was a member of Jonestown United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women of the church. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and word puzzles. She was also an avid reader, and wrote in her diary on a daily basis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hess on October 29, 1992.

Surviving are two daughters: Fay, wife of Robert F. Hollenbush, Pottsville; and Zoe Ann Hess, and her life partner Karl Kroeck, Bel Air, Md.; three grandsons: Erik Hollenbush, Pottsville; Seth Fritz, and his wife Ashley, Monument, Col.; and Zachary Fritz, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a great granddaughter: Harper Grace Fritz; and a sister: Mabel L. Whitenight, Orangeville.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Jonestown United Methodist Church., with her pastor, Rev. Charles V. Claybourn officiating. Interment in Jonestown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m.
