Alvin M. Klinger, age 89, Auburndale, Fla., and formerly of the Lime Ridge area died at his home at 6:28 a. m. on December 13, 2011.
He was born in Jamison City, Sugarloaf Township on Feb. 5, 1922, a son of the late Harvey J. and Edna M. (Knouse) Klinger. He resided in Auburndale for the past 23 years and formerly lived in the Lime Ridge area.
Alvin was employed by the former American Car & Foundry Co., Berwick; the former Berwick Forge Co. and also farmed much of his working life.
He was a member of the Lena Vista United Methodist Church, Auburndale, Fla.
Alvin served with the US Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gladys E. Seltzer, on July 15, 2001; by two brothers: Leroy Klinger and William Klinger; and by three sisters: Loretta, Pauline and Harriet.
Surviving are two sons: T. Eugene Klinger, and his wife F. Arlene, Bernville; Boots Klinger, and his friend Linda Eisaman, Bloomsburg; a daughter: Joyce, wife of Harold Hartzel, New Windsor, Md.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Robert Klinger, Danville and Doyle H. Klinger, and his wife Gloria, Benton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 10 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with his nephew, Rev. Doyle H. Klinger, Jr. officiating. Entombment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 6-8 p. m.
