ANNE M. PEMBLETON

Anne M. Pembleton, age 89, 478 Beach Glen Road, Benton (Talmar) went home to be with her Lord at 3:55 p. m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at her home.

Born on December 19, 1920 in Shelton, Conn., she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Alexandra (Warrion) Honas. She was a 1938 graduate of Shelton High School.

Before joining the US Army to serve her country during World War II, she worked at the Chance Voight Aircraft factory in Stratford, Conn. After joining the Army, Anne braved an Atlantic Ocean crossing under the threat of attack by German U-Boats. She was in Italy on D-Day. It was during her service in Cairo, Egypt that she met her future husband, Robert W. Pembleton, Sr., US Navy, and they were united in marriage after returning home in 1946.

During her 49 years of married life, she lived in Wilkes-Barre, Cleveland, Ohio and Willingboro, New Jersey, during which time she raised seven children. After her husband retired in 1989, they took up permanent residence at Talmar.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband on April 1, 1995 and by a son, Robert W. Pembleton, Jr., on October 15, 2009.

Surviving are six loving and devoted children: Deborah, and her husband Paul W. Haden, who resided with her; Janet, wife of Frank Smolenski, Burlington, N. J.; Richard Pembleton, Atlanta, Ga.; Mary Anne, wife of Russel Novak, San Diego, Calif.; Meg, wife of Wico vanGenderen and Chris Pembleton, and his wife Rosemarie, all of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a sister, Esther Angelini, Conn.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a. m. in Christ The King Catholic Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton. Celebrant will be her pastor, Rev. Donald W. Cramer, II. Interment will be made in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Talmar.

Friends may call at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton, on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a. m.
