Ardis M. Evans, age 77, 235 Academy St., Stillwater (New Columbus) died at 3:04 p. m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for nine days.
Born in Nescopeck on July 1, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence (Bankes) Shultz. She was a graduate of the former Nescopeck High School in 1956 and resided in New Columbus since 1970.
Ardis was a homemaker much of her life and earlier was employed at the former Boston Farms jelly factory in Fishingcreek Township.
She was a member of the St. James United Church of Christ, near Bendertown, and also of the New Columbus Academy Memorial Hall, Association. She also served as a judge of elections for New Columbus Borough for many years.
Ardis was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word jumble puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Shultz and Theodore Shultz.
Surviving are her husband, William C. Evans, with whom she would have observed her 57th wedding anniversary on December 13, 2015; three sons: James A. Evans, and his wife Misako, Hyatt, Md.; Gerald W. Evans, New Columbus; Jonathan L. Evans, and his wife Patricia L., Cambra; Jennifer M., wife of Ted Naugle, Town Hill; seven grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; two step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation service, Benton, with her pastor, Rev. Nancy Light-Hardy officiating. Interment in St. James Cemetery. Viewing on Tuesday from 10-11 a. m.
