Arlene E. Benjamin, age 93, 55 Sunshine Road, Shickshinny, died at her home at 8:05 p. m. Sunday, January 20, 2013 after having been in failing health for one year.
Born in Hunlock Township, Luzerne County on October 11, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Maude (Rummage) Bowman. She resided at her present home since 1987 and formerly lived in Jackson Township, Columbia County for many years.
Arlene was last employed by the former Elbyâs Big Boy Restaurant on Lightstreet Road, Bloomsburg, where she was employed for ten years. For many years she and her late husband owned a farm in Jackson Township and also raised chickens.
She attended the Divide Union Chapel in her earlier years.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Blake C. Benjamin on Sept. 19, 1979; by a son, Robert H. Benjamin on Nov. 19, 2001; by three sisters: Nellie Bilby, Margaret Culver and Bessie Hummel; and by five brothers: Mark Bowman, Stanley Bowman, George Bowman, Arthur Bowman and Francis Bowman.
Surviving is a daughter, Dealia Ann, wife of Dale Creveling, Stillwater; two grandsons: Dale Creveling, II, Milan, New Hampshire and Flint Creveling, Stillwater; two great-granddaughters: Megan Sue Creveling and Grace Elizabeth Creveling. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton, with the Rev. Richard W. Metcalf, pastor of Faith Bible Chapel, Pikes Creek, officiating. Interment in Waller Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-2 p. m.
