Audrey E. Hower, age 74, of West Main St., Bloomsburg, died peacefully early Tuesday morning April 22, 2025 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where she had been a patient.
Born in Bloomsburg on January 9, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and Marie (Hughes) Hower. She was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg and a 1969 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. She furthered her education by attending the former Bloomsburg State College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973.
Audrey was employed as an elementary teacher at St. Joseph’s School in Danville for 30 years, retiring in 2013.
She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.
Audrey enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts, and painting ceramics. She also enjoyed attending Bloomsburg University swimming events and basketball games. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ann Hower, on September 20, 1998.
Audrey is survived by her brother, Raymond F. Hower, and his wife, Jo Ann, of Enola; two nephews, Kirby Hower, and his wife, Lorraine, of White Hall and Jeffrey Hower, of Enola.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 29, 2025 at 3 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Rev. Pamela Meilands, officiating. Interment will be made in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Viewing will be held from 2-3 p.m.
