Bertha M. (Hart) Guttman, age 91, formerly of 330 W. Third Street, Bloomsburg, died at 1:25 a. m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was admitted Monday.
Born in Frenchtown, New Jersey on October 25, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Esther (Templeton) Hart. She was employed briefly early in her life before becoming a stay at home mother to her six children.
Bertha liked to read, travel and attend flea markets with her husband. She loved music of all types, but especially was fond of Elvis Presley and his music. Her greatest joy in life was helping to care for her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Walter Hart, Jr.; Roy Hart and Harry Hart.
Surviving are her husband, Stephen Guttman, with whom she celebrated 71 years of marriage on April 7, 2018; six children: Carl L. Guttman, and his wife Barbara, Graham, N.C.; Sharon A. Guttman, Mebane, N.C.; Peggy A., wife of David Bennett, Ft. Mill, S.C.; Melinda, wife of Craig Hallowell, Bloomsburg; Joanne, wife of Jay Knecht, Mifflinville; Diana Hartman, Berwick; six grandchildren: Dawn, Adam, Laura, Craig, Jr, Matthew and Sarah; two great-grandchildren: Lucy and Levi; a sister, Shirley Colaza, Phillipsburg, N.J. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
