Bertie L. Milliken, age 85, 77 Hartzell Road, Bloomsburg, died at his home at 2 p. m. Saturday, June, 2, 2018 after having been in failing health for 10 years.
Born in Camden, Maine on January 7, 1933, he was a son of the late Amos L. and Evelyn C. (Brodis) Milliken. He resided in Madison Township since 2002 and previously lived in Silver Spring, Maryland for 20 years.
Bertie was employed as the facilities plant manager for the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Beirut, Lebanon and also in Kenya. He returned to the United States in 1982 and worked in security at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland until retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the Danville Seventh Day Adventist Church where he was an Deacon. His favorite past time actives were walking and camping.
Bertie was preceded in death by a son, Robert Brierly in 1992 and by a grandson, Gunnar Milliken.
Surviving are his wife, the former Nancy M. Bowen, with whom he observed their 50th wedding anniversary on November 23, 2017; three children: John Brierly, Attleboro, Mass.; Carlita Stokenbury, Jessup, Md.; Bertie L. Milliken, Jr., and his fiance’, Lisa Landry, Spencer, Mass.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanne, wife of Paul Smith, Ooltewah, Tenn.; a half sister, Glenna, wife of William Morong, Camden, Me.; two half brothers: Lloyd Milliken, and his wife Patti, Tenn.; Robert Milliken, and his wife Glenna, York, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held in the near future at a time to be announced.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
