Betty K. Fisher

Betty K. Fisher, age 89, formerly of E. Tenth Street, Bloomsburg, died at 11 p. m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center, where she was a guest since March 15, 2014.

Born on June 22, 1927 in Black Creek Township, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Melinda (Sherman) Keller. Her early life was spent in Beaver Township and she moved to Bloomsburg in 1963.

Earlier in her life she was employed at the former Baronel factory; Bloomsburg Mills, Inc.; and Susan Mills, all of Bloomsburg. Later she worked as a housekeeper for a number of area families.

Earlier in her life she attended St. Peter’s “Hargers” Lutheran Church in Beaver Township. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lester E. Fisher, on December 30, 2008; and by two brothers: Merlin S. Keller and Jackson H. Keller.

Surviving are two daughters: Darlene Rupert, and her fiance’  Rodney Kitchen and Bonnie, wife of Richard Dove, both of Bloomsburg; a son, Kerry E. Fisher, and his wife Irene, Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six sisters: Helen Longenberger; Fern Armstrong; Mary Cool; Minnie Hess; Edna, wife of Daniel Makara; Barbara, wife of Roland John, all of Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Gordon E. Smith, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, officiating.  Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call from 1-2 p. m.
