Betty J. Hartman

Betty J. Hartman, age 77, 302 Main-Mifflin Road, Bloomsburg, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was seriously ill since October, 2015.

Born in Bloomsburg on January 25, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Harry H. and Cora L. (Gower) Brown. She resided on West Eighth Street, Bloomsburg for many years and in Main Township the past five years.

Betty was last employed by Decorator, Industries, Inc., Bloomsburg, retiring in 2004. Earlier she was employed by the former Consolidated Cigar Co., Berwick, for many years.

She attended the Emanuel Reformed Church, Mainville.

Betty loved spending time with her family, playing cards, picnics and camping.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly Jean McCarthy on May 1, 2016; by six brothers: John Brown; Wilbur Brown; Stanley Brown; Howard Brown; David Brown; Paul Brown; and four sisters: Mary Winn; Violet Auchter; Ruth Featherman; and Charlotte Welliver.

Betty is survived by her husband, Harry W. Hartman, with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage on February 19, 2016; two daughters: Carol A., wife of Mark Karns, Bloomsburg and  Sandra Jean, wife of Terry Fry, Catawissa;  a son, Dale Eugene Hartman, and his wife Patricia, Danville; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Fred Brown, Danville and Kenneth Brown and his wife Joanne, Bloomsburg; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg with Rev. Greg Clendaniel, pastor of Augustaville Wesleyan Church, officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call on Monday from 1-2 p.m.
