Betty Jean (Perry) Helwig

Betty Jean (Perry) Helwig, age 92, of English Hill Road, Bloomsburg, died Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Bonham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Stillwater.

Born in Bloomsburg on July 10, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Perry and Leona B. (Vannatta) Perry Ledger.  She lived in Mount Pleasant Township since 1951 and was a 1948 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Betty Jean worked in retail services, personal care and in early life clerical work.

She was a member of the Canby Lutheran Church.

Betty Jean volunteered for the 4-H Club and the American Cancer Society. She served on the Canby Cemetery board and on the Mount Pleasant Township Election Board.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Helwig on January 5, 2021.

Betty Jean is survived by three daughters: Diane Helwig of Nazareth, Janice Stutz of Bloomsburg, Cynthia Fletcher of Bloomsburg, a son, Michael Helwig and his wife Judy of Bloomsburg; 6 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two brothers: James Ledger and Robert Ledger, both of Bloomsburg and a sister, Sylvia Hartman of Bloomsburg.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
