Betty Jean (Morrison) Maurer

Betty Jean (Morrison) Maurer, age 95, of Bloomsburg passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Sunset Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Scott Township where she resided for eight months.

Born in Main Township on August 27, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Ray and Carrie (Longenberger) Morrison. She was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Betty Jean was employed at the former Emenee Shirt Factory in Catawissa for a number of years and last at the former Watts Appliances on West Main Street in Bloomsburg for 1 ½ years before she retired.

She was a member of the Emanuel Reformed Church of Mainville for 82 years where she was a member of the Women’s Guild, holding various offices over the years. She also was a member of the Geisinger/Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

Betty Jean was preceded in death by four husbands: Clarence “Bud” Fink, Ivan Watts, Jack George and Gerald Maurer; also by a brother Harold Morrison and a sister Grace Slusser.

Surviving is a dear nephew, Scott Slusser, of Bloomsburg, two nieces, another nephew, her lifelong friend, Ginger Pinera of Bloomsburg and two step-daughters: Elaine, wife of Ed Temple and Sharon, wife of Phillip Roberts, all of Danville; six step grandchildren; 12 step great-grandchildren; and 13 step great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 11 a. m. in Emanuel Reformed Church, 146 Church Road, Bloomsburg, with interim pastor Robert Hettinger and former pastor Bradley Breisch officiating. Interment in the Church cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
