Betty L. Rupert

Betty L. (Smoyer) Rupert, age 96, 330 W. Third Street, Bloomsburg, died at her home on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 2:23 p. m. after an illness.

Born in Beaver Township on March 5, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Verdie (Johnson) Smoyer. She resided in Bloomsburg for 17 years and previously lived in Beaver Township.

Betty was employed at the former Keck's Drapery in Bloomsburg for many years, retiring about 1987.

She was a member of St. Peter's (Harger's)  United Church of Christ and the former Catawissa Lioness Club. She loved flowers and cooking and especially her great- grand  dogs: Sadie and Finny.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Rupert, in 1969; by a son, Gary G. "Trapper" Rupert; a sister, Marie Formolo; and by two brothers: Donald Smoyer and Leonard Smoyer.

Surviving are her daughter, Charlene, wife of Rev. John A. Hoff, Emmaus; two granddaughters: Anna K. Hoff and Rachel Slack, West Springfield, Mass; and several nieces and nephews, including her caregiver, Ronald Petock, Bloomsburg.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:30 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Dwayne Nichols officiating. Private interment will be made in Harger's Cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 1-1:30 p. m. Memorials may be sent to the Animal Resource Center, 301-A Boone Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
