Betty J. (Martz) Serzinski, age 90, 140 Winter St., (DuBoistown), Williamsport, died at 11:30 p. m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center, where she was a patient for one day. She was in failing health for four years.
Born in Bloomsburg on Aug. 27, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Frank H. and Laura Jean ( Creveling) Martz. She resided in DuBoistown since the death of her husband in 1984 and previously lived in the Bloomsburg area.
Betty was employed by the former Engleâs Restaurant, Bloomsburg, early in her life and last at the former Magee Carpet Co., Bloomsburg, for eight years, retiring in 1968.
She was a member of the Buckhorn United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg and attended the DuBoistown United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens group of South Williamsport.
Betty loved her cats and caring for them. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, walking, playing cards and spending time at family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Serzinski on March 30, 1984 and by seven brothers: Harold, Donald, Max, Frank, Wayne E., Dale O., and Melvin E. Martz.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Theresa A. Serzinski, with she resided; and five siblings: Ruth, wife of Arden F. Robbins; Hazel M., wife of Dean A. Robbins; Allen N. Martz, and his wife Dorothy; Kenneth C,. Martz, and his wife Eldora, all of Bloomsburg; and Eunice E., wife of Jon L. Rider, Millville. There are also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her friend and former pastor, Rev. Allen F. Acor officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
