Betty L. (Richard) Wydra, age 84, of 8 Columbia Hill Road, Danville, died at 9:57 a. m. Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for five days.
Born in Rush Township, Northumberland County on November 4, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Grace M. (Swartz) Richard. She spent her entire life in the Danville area and was a 1952 graduate of Danville High School.
Betty was employed by Pennsylvania Gas & Water Co., for 42 years before retiring.
She enjoyed reading, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley J. Wydra, on October 3, 1997.
Surviving are a daughter, Tammy, wife of Bob Merritt, Riverside; a son, David Wydra, and his wife Jodi, Danville; a granddaughter, Amanda “Mindy”, wife of Rob Newman, Catawissa; a grandson, Joseph Wydra, and his wife Amanda, Danville; five great-grandchildren: Joseph Wydra, Ryleigh Wydra, Olivia Wydra, Robby Newman, Ben Newman, a brother, Dale Richard, and his wife Margie, Riverside; and a sister May, wife of Richard Dock, Sunbury.
Private funeral services will be held in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville, with Rev. Mary B. Schmotzer, pastor of Shiloh United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
The family will provide flowers.
