Blair D. “Dave” Ganoe, age 95, formerly of South Williamsport, passed into eternity on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022 at Glenbrook Rehab and Nursing Center in Berwick where he resided since 2017.
Born in New Castle on May 16, 1926, he was a son of the late Blair B. and Melva (Haney) Ganoe.
Blair worked for the railroad in New York for several years before enlisting in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He served on a submarine, the U. S. S. Blenny. He later worked as a cook at the Clearfield Diner. He was last employed at the former Avco (now Textron) plant in South Williamsport before retiring. He was a longtime member of the VFW in Williamsport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Beatrice (Wurster) Ganoe; a son, Lance C. Ganoe; a great grandson, Joshua Shoemaker; a great granddaughter, Colby S. Shoemaker; two brothers: Homer Ganoe and Thomas Ganoe; and three sisters: Mary Price, Cherie LoDestro and Cleo Smith.
Blair is survived by a son, George Ganoe, and his wife Thanya, Newport News, Va., two daughters: Susan Davis, Williamsburg, Va. and Bonnie K., wife of Gerald VanArt, Mifflinville; four granddaughters: Leslie (VanArt) Richendrfer, State College; Angelique (VanArt) Shoemaker, Bloomsburg; Michelle (Ganoe) Barnes, Yorktowne, Va.; Rene (Ganoe) Morgan, Sparks, Nev.; a grandson, Kenneth Davis, Baton Rouge, La.; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers: Wallace Ganoe, Hewitt, Tex.; Edwin Ganoe, Madisonville, Tenn.; Vicctor Ganoe, Buffalo, N.Y.; Daniel Ganoe, West Seneca, N.Y. and a sister, Sandra Collar, Buffalo, N.Y.
Following cremation, graveside services will be planned at the Ganoe family plot in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland, Clearfield County, in the Spring.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
