Carlisle C. Horne, age 93, 1335 Continental Blvd., Danville, died at his home on Wednesday evening, August 6, 2014 after having been in failing health for several years.

Born in Cleveland Township, Columbia County on May 6, 1921, he was a son of the laate Robert E. and Bertha Mae (Fritz) Horne. He was a graduate of the former Locust Township High School in 1939 and resided in Valley Township, Montour County since 1949.

Carlisle was a self-employed farmer all of his life and also was employed by the former TRW plant in Danville for 25 years, retiring in 1977.

He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and took part in the air offensive campaigns in Italy, France and Sicily. He was a member of the Turbotville VFW Post.

Carlisle was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Leiby on January 12, 2005; by sisters, Cecile Hughes, Thelma Drum, Lorraine Broscious, Barbara Larzelere, Alberta Marinos; and two brothers; Newton Horne and Donald Horne.

Surviving are a daughter, Carla M.Horne, Danville; two sons'; Ronald C. Horne and his wife Linda, Danville, and Randall R. Horne, at home; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters; Marge, wife of Ollie Gray, Bloomsburg, Dorothy Howard, Hartford, Conn; and Larue Liston, Bellefonte.

There will be no funeral services and no viewing. Private interment will be made in Elan Memorial Park. Lime Ridge.
