Carrie E. Black

Carrie E. (Moyer) Black, age 94, 330 W. Third St., Bloomsburg died peacefully at her home with her children by her bedside at 7:55 p. m. on Friday, April 26, 2019.

Born in Kulpmont on September 26, 1924, she was a daughter of the late William and Della (Brown) Moyer. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1952 and previously lived in Kulpmont.

Carrie was last employed by the Bloomsburg Area School District in the cafeteria, retiring in 1989 after 12 ½ years employment. Earlier she was employed by J. L. Dillon Floral, Agway and Hanover Canning Co.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg, for 65 years and a member of the Pals Class of the Sunday School. She attended the Bloomsburg Senior Center when able. Her favorite activities were bingo, playing cards and knitting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy  G. Black, Sr.,  on May 20, 1979;  five brothers: Lewis Moyer, Arthur Moyer, Earl Moyer, Leroy Moyer, Albert Moyer and a sister, Alice M. Berninger.

Carrie is survived by a daughter, Norma Jean, wife of Charles Dean Shultz, Bloomsburg, a son, LeRoy G. Black, Jr., and his wife Susan, Turbotville; three grandchildren: Brandon Black, Justin Black, Andrea, wife of Siew Kwok;  and two great-grandsons: Fitzgerald and Truman. She was the last of seven children and is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Mark F. Reisinger,  officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 12 noon to 1 p. m.
