Catherine M. (Ozelek) Maxwell, age 85, of Shamokin and formerly of Danville died on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Berwick on June 19, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Dawett) Ozelek. She attended the former Locust Township High School in Numidia. She resided in Danville for over 40 years before moving to Shamokin to live with her daughter, Katie.
Catherine was employed at the Danville Senior Center for many years and earlier at the former Gold Star Nursing Home in Danville.
She enjoyed going to casinos, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Okey Theodore Maxwell, her companion Alfred Herrold, two brothers: Albert Ozelek and Joseph “Sonny” Ozelek, two son-in-law’s and a brother-in-law.
Catherine is survived by three children: Mary Taylor, North Adams, Mass., Joseph Ozelek, Danville, Katherine “Katie” Rowe and her companion Justin Fisher, with whom she resided in Shamokin; four grandchildren: April, wife of John Knapp, Anna Maxwell and her fiance’ Daniel Wallick, LeAnn, wife of Nick Cassel and Katelynn Maxwell; five great-grandchildren: Bobby Knapp, Jason Knapp, Juliet Knapp, Cooper Wallick and Landon Cassel; a sister, Cecelia Fausnaught, Danville, a long time friend Levern Bradley and several nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid 19 and travel restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Road, Danville.
