Catherine F. Novotny

Catherine F. (Savage) Novotny, age 102, formerly of Whiting, New Jersey died at 9:45 p. m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Westview Health Care Center, Dayville, Conn. where she resided for five years.

Born in Davidson Township, Sullivan County on March 31, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Tressie (Klinger) Savage. She resided in Whiting, N.J. from 1977 to 2009 when she entered the Westview Health Care Center. Earlier she resided in Irvington, N.J. for 36 years.

Catherine was a homemaker all her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew G. Novotny,  on  April 15, 1986; by two sons: Richard A. Novotny and Robert R. Novotny; three brothers: Roscoe Savage, Lawrence Savage, Floyd “Mike” Savage; and by four sisters: Emmaline Sorber, Iris P. Penman, Blanche Fenstermacher and Willard O. Phillips.

Catherine is survived by two children: Sonia, wife of Anthony Esposito, Moosup, Conn.; and Larry G. Novotny, and his wife Esther, Clemmons, N.C.; two daughters in law: Kay Novotny, Sterling, Va. and Janet Novotny, Fords, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; 23 Great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of a family of eight children.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton. Interment in the Benton Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 p. m.
