Charles R. Eck, Sr., age 85, of Cameltown Hill Rd., Danville, died early Tuesday morning October 22, 2024, at his home after an illness.
Born in Salladasburg, Lycoming County, on March 19, 1939, he was the son of the late Harry and Ruth (Folkrod) Eck.
He was last employed at the Milton Transportation Company as a mechanic, retiring in 2001.
Charles was a member of the Hendrickson United Methodist Church.
He loved to cut wood, work on vehicles, and gardening. He was also a dog lover and had many dogs in his lifetime, but Rascal was his favorite. He was a member of the Northumberland Fire Co. No. 1 and Valley Township Fire Co..
Charles was a peacetime U.S. Navy veteran, serving onboard a ship as a welder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years, the former Eleanor Hackenberg, in 1991; two brothers, Thomas Eck and William Eck; sister, Catherine Gower; and two sisters-in-law, Blanche Hollenbach and Dorothy English.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary A. Smith, with whom he observed 32 years of marriage in May 2024; son, Charles R. Eck, Jr., of Shamokin; sister, Hazel Paulhamus, of Linden; sister-in-law, Janet Eck, of Troy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday October 26, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. in Hendrickson Cemetery, with hospice chaplain, Alan Langell, officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1133 Bloom Rd., Danville.
