CHARLES  E.  EDWARDS

Charles E. Edwards, age 73, 20 Lookout Drive, Bloomsburg, died at his home on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 and was pronounced dead at 10:30 a. m. He had been in failing health for ten years.

Born on Dec. 27, 1937 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Elmer E. and Esther (Wright) Edwards. He spent his entire life in the Bloomsburg area.  

Charles was employed by the Kawneer, Corp., for 30 years, retiring on Sept. 1, 2001.

He was a member and enjoyed singing with the Columbia-Montour Chapter, Barbershoppers.

Charles served in the US Army for three years in the late 1950's.

Surviving are his wife, the former Hester A. Brooking, with whom he celebrated his 54th wedding anniversary on Dec. 27, 2010; four daughters: Roxann K., wife of David Konrad, Bloomsburg;  Leeann K., wife of Joseph Hutchinson, Berlin, N.J.; Crystal Ann K., wife of Patrick Wincell, Nescopeck;  Melody Ann K., wife of Gregg Freyland, Orangeville; six grandchildren: Karissa, wife of Christopher Cope; Rebecca, wife of Chad Smith; Heather Konrad; Richard Lee; Monica Hutchinson; Brett Hutchinson; two great-grandchildren: Kalleigh Smith and Austin Cope; a sister, Erath, wife of Kenneth Conrad, Sunbury; and a brother, Harold "Whitey" Edwards, and his wife Geri. There are also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Brown.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methodist Churches officiating.

Freinds may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12 - 2 p. m.
