Charles J. Felker, age 79, 4970 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, died in Danville on December 26, 2013, his 79th birthday, at 1:40 a. m.

Born in Pittston, Luzerne County on December 26, 1934, he was a son of the late George Felker and the late Alla (Kaiser) Felker Fisher. He resided in Bloomsburg since 1974 and previously resided in Las Vegas, Nevada and California. His early years were spent in Bloomsburg. He was raised by the late Dr. Charles and  Hazel Yost, who resided on Market Street. His step father was the late Gilbert Fisher.

Charles served in the US Air Force from 1952 until he retired in 1972 with the rank of T/Sergeant after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of service in both the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. After moving to Bloomsburg, he was employed by the Town of Bloomsburg, first as a Parking Enforcement Officer and last as a code enforcement officer,  retiring in 1992 after 18 years of service.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg.

Charles enjoyed doing yard work and being outside with his Cocker Spaniel, Dusty.

A brother, Gilbert Felker, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, the former Shirley E. Hunter, with whom he celebrated his 57th wedding anniversary on August 25, 2013; a daughter, Robin E. Blass, at home; four grandchildren: Eric S. Blass, Bloomsburg; Brad C. Blass, and his wife Sharon, Lebanon; Stacy L. Blass, and her fiance’ Brandon Onisick, Pottsville; Cody J. Blass, Bloomsburg; three great-grandchildren: Ethan and Talon Heverling, Lebanon; Emily Onisick, Pottsville; a brother, Jacob Felker, and his wife Marge, Tunkhannock; a step brother, Kenneth Fisher, and his wife Roxanne, Bloomsburg; a sister in law, Shirley A. Felker, Berwick and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:30 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. David Bateman officiating. Interment in the Veterans section of Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with military honors by the combines VFW group. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 p. m.
