Charles L. Heller, age 79, formerly of Almedia, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Bloomsburg Care & Rehabilitation, where he had been a resident.
Born on February 22, 1942 in Moorestown, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Roll) Heller. A 1961 graduate of Moorestown High School, Charles resided in Pennsauken, NJ, until moving to Bloomsburg in 1990.
Charles worked at the Thompson Mailing at Lime Ridge for 17 years, retiring in 2007.
A World War II buff, he enjoyed wood working, refinishing antique furniture, and fishing in Canada.
Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Heller.
He is survived by his wife, Claire M. (Chant) Heller, with whom he celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on August 15, 2021; a son, Ronald Heller, of NJ; two stepchildren: Michael E. Speakman, of Florida, and Lynn M. Martz, and her husband Gary K., of Bloomsburg; two grandsons: Eric and Charles J. Heller, both of Kentucky; four step-grandchildren: Kimberly and Michael Speakman, both of Delaware, and Lauren Martz and Michaela Tloczynski, and her husband Christian, both of Bloomsburg; a sister, Anna Mae Hubler, of Burlington, NJ; and a brother, Robert G. Heller, of Gainsville, VA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Rev. Gordon E. Smith, of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m.
