Charles M. Meade, Sr., age 66, formerly of Berwick and Bendertown, rural Orangeville, died at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, Lackawanna County, at 11:55 p. m. Sunday, August 19, 2018. For the past 1 1/2 years he resided at Harvey's Lake with his son Charles M. Meade, Jr. and his wife Marie, who was his caregiver.
Born in Berwick on November 16, 1951, he was the son of the late Elmer Collins and Thelma Lucille (Drumheller) Meade. He spent his entire life in the Berwick and Bendertown areas, graduating from the Columbia-Montour Vocational Technical School in 1971.
Charles worked at the Wise Foods plant in Berwick for 34 years before retiring several years ago.
His hobbies included fishing, shooting and re-loading shells. He especially enjoyed camping at Worlds End State Park.
Charles was preceded in death by an infant son, Jason, in 1980 and also by three brothers: Robert H. Meade, Sr., Howard Meade and Elmer C. Meade, Jr.
Surviving are a daughter, Tracy, wife of Brian Rekus, Scranton; a son, Charles M. Meade, Jr., and his wife Marie, Harvey's Lake; a grandson, Hunter Rekus; and three step grandchildren: Courtney Gleco, Joshua Gleco, and Kyle Hungarter. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral services or viewing.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
