Charles D. Swisher, age 87, of Bloomsburg, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for six days.
Born in Bloomsburg on June 8, 1928, he was a son of the late Charles and Bessie (Derr) Swisher. Charles resided in the Bloomsburg area his entire life.
He was a member of the former Liberty Fire Co., now the Bloomsburg Fire Co.; and a former member of the Moose Lodge, Bloomsburg.
Charles always enjoyed camping down at the shore with his family.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Swisher and Arthur Swisher.
Surviving is his wife, the former Mary M. Shaffer, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on April 17, 2015; a daughter, Mary Ann Beaver, Bloomsburg; two sons: Charles D. Swisher, wife Mary âFranâ, Catawissa and Robert âBobâ F. Swisher, Bloomsburg; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; and a brother, Ricky Lee Swisher, Bloomsburg.
Services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Shane Diener, of JourneyMate Wesley Church officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1-2 p.m.
