Chester E. Stigerwalt, Jr., age 68, of 50 Evert Road, Bloomsburg died unexpectedly at his home in Mount Pleasant Township early Monday morning, April 13, 2020 of natural causes.
Born in Bloomsburg on June 13, 1951, he was a son of the late Chester E. and Lucille L. (Mausteller) Stigerwalt. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and a 1961 graduate of Central Columbia High School.
Chester was employed by HRI in construction as a truck driver for over 20 years, retiring in 2017. His hobby and favorite pastime was tinkering with old cars. Earlier he was a regular attendee at the stockcar races in Selinsgrove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters: Mary M. Derr, Lois Kessler, Phyllis Millard, Edna Houser, Linda Magliane, Mildred Hurley and Clara J. Stigerwalt; and by three brothers: Harry Stigerwalt, David Stigerwalt and Richard Stigerwalt.
Chester is survived by his wife of 37 years, the former Kathy M. Brown, who he married on August 13, 1982; two daughters: Kara, wife of Richard Friend and Michelle Levan, both of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: Alyssa Friend, Alexis Friend, Gavin Friend, Tiana Levan; a sister, Esther, wife of David Cooper, Riverside and a brother, James A. Stigerwalt and his wife Brenda of Bloomsburg.
At Chester’s request there will be no funeral services or viewing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
