Christine (Lubach) Baran, age 101, formerly of E. Fourteenth St., Berwick, died at 10:40 a. m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Forest City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Forest City, Susquehanna County, where she was a resident since November 9, 2014.
Born in Jessup, Lackawanna County, on September 5, 1915, she was a daughter of the late George and Josephine (Kenezra) Lubach. She resided in the Berwick area for much of her lifetime.
Christine and her husband, Anthony Baran, who died in 1954, resided in the Summer Hill area for many years and owned a farm there. Later in life she was employed by Berwick Offray for a number of years.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Berwick.
Christine enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed walking with her dogs, Susiebelle and Trixie.
She was preceded in death by her husband and also by six siblings.
Christine is survived by two sons: George L. Baran, Forest City and formerly of Berwick; John Baran, and his wife Glenda, Millville; four grandchildren: Laura C., wife of Kyle Price, Forest City; Kelly, wife of Brian Morris, Millville; Paulette, wife of Frank Olsen, Millville; Adam Baran, wife Melissa, Boston, Mass.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was the last of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Friday at 2 p. m. in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1730 Fowler Avenue, Berwick, with her pastor, Rev. Francis J. Tamburro officiating. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Briar Creek Township. Viewing at the Church from 1-2 p. m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
