Clair R. Swisher, age 72, 412 Millville Road, Bloomsburg, died at 8:10 a. m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for three days.
Born in Bloomsburg on April 9, 1941, he was a son of the late Melvin and Margaret (Hartzell) Swisher. A lifelong resident of Bloomsburg, he graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1961.
Clair was employed by the Bloomsburg Area School District for 42 years as a maintenance worker, retiring in 2003.
He was a member of the First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary N. Halderman, with whom he celebrated his 51st wedding anniversary on April 13, 2013; three children: Norman C. Swisher, Sr., and his wife Carolyn, Bloomsburg; Christal J. Snyder, Bloomsburg; John C. Swisher, and his wife Jennifer, Milton; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark R. Swisher on March 27, 1979 and by a brother, William Swisher in 2000.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. L. Lee Barnhardt officiating. Interment in Creveling Cemetery, Almedia. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p. m.
