Clare A. (McDonald) MacMahon, age 88, of 257 Ashton Hollow Road, Catawissa, died at 10 p. m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at The Gardens of Orangeville where she resided since May, 2017.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on July 23, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Peter F. and Blanche T. (Stein) McDonald. She resided in the Catawissa area since 1970.
Clare was a graduate of St. Brendan Catholic High School, Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1948.
She was employed as a secretary in her husband's insurance office in Bloomsburg from 1970 to 1988.
Clare was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Slabtown. She was an active volunteer for numerous community activities and organizations, including Agape. She and her husband were active as volunteers for the American Red Cross, traveling to disasters throughout the USA. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darren G. MacMahon in 1959 and by two brothers: Gerard P. McDonald., May, 2013 and Robert F. McDonald in April, 2017.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur B. MacMahon, with whom she observed a 68th wedding anniversary on August 27, 2018; six children: Dennis P. MacMahon, Greece, N.Y.; Deirdre MacMahon, wife of Phillip Ody, Los Banas, Calif.; Deborah, wife of Hervey Gillespie, Bloomsburg; Peter R. MacMahon, wife Diane, Mohnton; Robert D. MacMahon, wife Nancy, Lafayette Hill; Michael D. MacMahon, wife Elaine, Arlington Heights, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a. m. in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 304 Slabtown Road, Catawissa, by her pastor, Rev. Dennis G. Dalessandro. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Viewing on Monday from 5-7 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
