Col. Lea M. Boyer, USA ret., age 91, 1046 Highland Hills Circle, Bogart Ga. died at his home on February 12, 2010 after a lengthy illness.

Born on November 15, 1918 in Catawissa, Pa, he was a son of the late Arthur and Jessie (Bergstresser) Boyer. He moved to Georgia 10 years ago after living in Camp Hill for 26 years.

He was a 1936 graduate of the former Catawissa High School and attended Bucknell University, Lewisburg for two years. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania for four years graduating in 1942 with a degree as Doctor of Dental Science.

Col. Boyer served in the US Army for 30 years during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War eras. When he retired in September, 1973 he was the Commander of all US Army dentists in Europe and Africa..

He and his wife, the former Elizabeth A. Baldy, would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on February 16, 2010. Also surviving are two daughters: Patricia Boyer, Cortez, Colo. and Mary, wife of Richard Turner, Watkinsville, Ga.; two grandchildren: Conor (correct) Turner and Bonnie Turner, both of Georgia. He was the last of his immediate family.

Memorial services will be held in Catawissa at a time to be announced.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
