Connie M. Shoop, age 67, 7 E. Overlook St., Orangeville, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville., where she had been for two days. She was in failing health for four months.
Born on Dec. 10, 1942 in Mahoning Twp., Montour County, she was a daughter of the late Herman W., Sr. and Alberta E. (Day) Seidel. She resided in Stony Brook Circle for 17 years and formerly in Lightstreet and Danville.
Connie was a 1960 graduate of Danville High School and from Bloomsburg University in 1989.
She was last employed in 2004 as a counselor for Beyond Violence, Berwick and formerly for Columbia County Children & Youth and Columbia Montour Sullivan Union (CMSU) Mental Health.
Early in life, Connie attended the Washingtonville Lutheran Church.
Some of her great joys were her grandchildren and her family, and in her retirement she liked bird watching. Her favorite restaurant was the Lightstreet Hotel.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and her twin brother, Herman Seidel.
Surviving are her husband, Carey L. Shoop, with whom she celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on May 22, 2009; five children: Jeff Hawley, wife Dael, Wellington, Fla.; Tracy L. Yeo, fiance Kory Friese, Paxinos; Theresa, wife of Ronald Swank, Danville and Bonnie, wife of Matt Williams, Catawissa and Andrew Shoop, Bloomsburg; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters: Vera Fleming, Washingtonville; Nancy, wife of Clair T. Stump, Danville; Judy, wife of Michael Enright, Danville and Sharon Foust, Washingtonville and two brothers: Randall Seidel, wife Pat, Washingtonville and Richard Seidel, wife Mary, Danville.
A memorial gathering at the Lightstreet Hotel will be held at a time to be announced.
