Corey F. Kreischer, age 73, of Country Club Drive, Bloomsburg, left the earth December 8, 2023.

Born in Berwick on October 13, 1950, he was a son of the late William H., Jr. and Alethea F. (Sponenberg) Kreischer. He was a 1968 graduate of Berwick High School and attended Penn State University, Dallas campus for two years before being drafted into the military.

Corey faithfully served with the U. S Army in Vietnam as assistant Harbor Master at Cam Rohn. He received an Army commendation for saving a life and also received the bronze star medal. He attained the rank of Sergeant before he was discharged on March 22, 1972. He was a member of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion.

Most of his working years were spent in retail sales. He was employed at Pickering Winery from 2014 – 2020; the Town of Bloomsburg from 2008 – 2016; eight years at Wagner’s Trophies; and Radio Shack and Sears Roebuck for 27 years.

Corey was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, a Boy Scout leader and part of the group that started Wesley’s Soup Kitchen. He enjoyed volunteering at his Church and in the community.

His daughter Beth said, “Dad was smart, kind, sensitive and silly. He loved to talk to others and tried to make them laugh with his stories and jokes. He was patient and loving. He was adored and will be incredibly missed.”.

Corey is survived by his wife, the former Marcy A. Hanley, with whom he observed their 44th wedding anniversary on September 29, 2023; a son, Scott Kreischer, who resides at home, a daughter, Beth, wife of Chris Custer of Medford Lakes, New Jersey; a beloved granddaughter, Charlotte Custer, a sister, Shirley Raber, and a brother, Kirby L. Kreischer and his wife Lucille of Nescopeck.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday May 25, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Road, Bloomsburg, PA. A time of fellowship will follow the service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
