D. Pauline Long, age 90, Cambra, died at 6:05 p. m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Bonham Nursing Center, Register where she was admitted on Monday. She was in failing health for six months.
Born at Waterton, Huntington Township, Luzerne County, on December 26, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Maude (Ridall) Franklin. She resided in Huntington Township her entire life.
Pauline was a graduate of the former Huntington Mills High School and of the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College.
She was an elementary school teacher for 31 years, retiring about 1980. She taught in several one room schools and other schools of the present Northwest Area School District.
Pauline was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's group of the Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lou Long on June 7, 1950 and by her only brother, Richard Franklin.
Surviving is her husband, Fred C. Long , with whom she celebrated her 62nd wedding anniversary on April 5, 2009; two sons: Danny F. Long, Harding; Drew H. Long, and his wife Susan, Huron, Ohio; a daughter, Cindy A. Long, Cambra; five grandchildren: Daniel Long, Nicholas Long, Carl Long, Steven Long and Susan Long; and a former daughter-in-law, Kay Long, Berwick.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton, with her pastor, Rev. Mark A. Hagy and Rev. Robert K. Andrews, pastor of the Derr's Christian Church officiating. Interment in Dodson Cemetery, Southdale. Friends may on Friday from 6-8 p. m. The family will provide flowers.
