Dale R. Wynings, age 81, 233 Fisher St., Bloomsburg (Rupert), died unexpectedly at 4:50 p. m. Saturday in the emergency room of the St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY.

Born in Lime Ridge on October 5, 1931, he was the only child of the late Ezra and Margaret (Mausteller) Wynings. He resided in the Bloomsburg area his entire life.

Dale attended the Berwick High School where he was a member of the class of 1949. He was an outstanding football and baseball player while in high school.

Early in his life, he was employed by Milco Industries, Inc., Bloomsburg for 35 years. He later was the state director for the Loyal Order of the Moose, retiring in 1996.

Dale was a life member of Milton Lodge 171, Loyal Order of the Moose, where he served as administrator. He received the Pilgrim degree in 1974; was a past president of the PA Moose Association; and  past  District President. He also belonged to Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and the Valley of Bloomsburg, American Legion Post 273.

He was a charter member of the Lime Ridge Fire Co.; and a life member of the following fire companies: Bloomsburg Fire Department and Relief Association; Montour Township Fire Co.; and Friendship Fire Co., Danville.

Dale served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid football fan, especially the Penn State Nittany Lions.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dale R. Wynings, Jr. in 1973.

Surviving are his wife, the former Ida Mae Cooper, with whom he celebrated his 31st wedding anniversary on March 27, 2013; a son, Christopher D. Wynings, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Bonnie Ann, wife of Lawrence Gilligan, Charlton, Mass.; four grandchildren: Mallory Curio, Nathan Wynings, Daniel Gilligan, and Michael Gilligan; and a great-grandson, Isaiah Wynings. He was the last of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson and Mooresburg United Methodist Churches officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p. m. Moose Pilgrim  services will be held at 7 p. m. The family will provide flowers.
