DANIEL J. BLACKLEDGE
Daniel J. Blackledge, age 60, 202 W. Fourth St., Bloomsburg, died at 6:55 p. m. Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was admitted earlier in the day. He was in failing health since mid November, 2011.
Born in Bloomsburg on Aug. 7, 1951, he was the son of June (Oberst) Blackledge, with whom he resided and the late John Blackledge, Jr. He spent most of his life in Bloomsburg and was a 1969 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. He received a Batchelor of Arts degree and Masters Degree from Bloomsburg University.
Daniel was a wonderful son who was devoted to his mother and a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews. He was an accomplished artist.
He served with the U. S. Air Force Strategic Air Command during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Guam and Labrador.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Heller Telesky on Feb. 6, 2011.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three brothers: Larry A. Heller, and his wife Linda, Bernville; David J. Blackledge, and his wife Deb, Bloomsburg; Thomas Blackledge, and his wife Amelia, Bloomsburg; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Fri. at 11 a. m. in Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 260 E. Seventh St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Stephen D. Engelhardt, pastor of the Church officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10-11 a. m.
