DAVID GUY BOGERT

David Guy Bogert, age 78, 275-A Stony Brook Road, Orangeville, died at 8:15 a. m. Sunday, November 29, 2009, in the emergency room of the Bloomsburg Hospital where he was taken after being sticken at his home.

Born on July 22, 1931 in New Columbus, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Hulda E. (Chapin) Bogert. He resided in Orange Township since 1971 and previously lived in Lightstreet.

Guy was a 1948 graduate of Benton High School.

He was employed by Penn-Dot for 29 years and was a construction inspector when he retired.

Guy was a member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church for over 45 years and served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 20 years. He was a ballplayer in his younger days, pitching for the Bendertown and Orangeville teams in the Tri County League.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Guy and his wife, the former Judith L. Parks, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on July 10, 2009. Also surviving are a daughter, Cynthia, wife of Paul Miller, Bloomsburg; four sons: Robin D. Bogert, and his wife Dian, Bloomsburg; Terry L. Bogert, and his wife Lora, Orangeville; Allen K. Bogert, Drums; Donald G. Bogert, and his wife Tenette, Orangeville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight siblings: Erma Harris, Dallas; Ernest H. Bogert, and his wife Edna, Media; Stanley M. Bogart, and his wife Blanche, Orangeville; Florence Burgess, Benton; Ruth, wife of Kenneth Johnson, Newark, Del.; Donald E. Bogert, and his wife MaryEllen, Warners, N.Y.; Elsie, wife of William Mack, West Chester; and Rebecca, wife of Edward Wolfe, Newark, Del.

He was preceded in death by two infant great-grandchildren and a brother Leland E. Bogert, who died on Nov. 26, 1971.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton, with his pastor, Rev. Charles L. Kind officiating. Interment in the Benton Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p. m.
