David E. Dewald, age 71, of Nescopeck and formerly of Bloomsburg died at 10:25 p. m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 at the Sunset Ridge Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Scott Township.
Born in Bloomsburg on Feb. 20, 1948, he was a son of the late LaRue R. and Bertha (Cook) Dewald. He lived in Nesopeck for several years and formerly lived in Bloomsburg much of his life.
David was a truck driver much of his working career, last working for the Watsontown Trucking Co. He also was a civilian truck driver in Iraq.
He served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with two overseas bars. He was a member of the Ft. McClure Post 804, VFW, Bloomsburg.
Surviving are a son, David E. Dewald, Jr., Bloomsburg; a daughter, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter; three brothers: Irving Dewald, Cole City, Ill.; Larry Dewald, and his wife Linda, State of Washington; Glenn Dewald, and his wife Joyce, Mayflower, Ark.; three sisters: Jane, wife of Kerry Johnson, Williamsburg, Va.; Sharon Masteller, Bloomsburg; Sally Sterling, Nescopeck; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p. m., in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Pastor James Kline officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy, where military honors will be performed by the combined VFW and American Legion group. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p. m.
