Delores L. Shoemaker

Delores L. Shoemaker, age 88, 106 Railroad Street, Danville, died at 8:10 p. m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for two days. She was in failing health for several years.

Born in Danville on August 28, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Palmer and Ida (Steffen) Mottern. She graduated from Danville High School in 1946

Delores was employed at the former Westinghouse Corp., plant in Sunbury early in her life. Later she was employed by Danville State Hospital as an aide, working there for 31 years, before retiring in 1991.

She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and relatives at the holidays. Delores was very creative and enjoyed working with crafts and spending time with her dog, Benjie.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Shoemaker in May 8, 1972; by two brothers, Wayne Mottern and an infant, Palmer Mottern; and an infant sister, Genevieve Mottern.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda L. Shoemaker, who resided with her;  a sister, Ramona, wife of Francis Mahoney, Danville; several nieces and nephews; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews,.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, followed by interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. There  will be no viewing.

Memorials may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville.
