Diane D. Koons
Diane D. Koons, age 78, 370 Park Street, Benton, died at her home at 6 a. m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 after having been in failing health for five years.
Born in Muncy on Jan. 20, 1934, a daughter of the late Nevin and Gladys (Bastian) Decker, she was a 1952 graduate of Montgomery High School.
Diane resided in Benton since 1983 and previously lived in Ellenburg, New York.
She was a member of the Benton United Presbyterian Church and of the former Columbia Chapter 177, Order of Eastern Star, Benton, and a past worthy matron of the group.
Diane was employed as a cook at the Lightstreet Hotel for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest B. Koons, on Nov. 19, 2007; a son, Frank W. Holdren, II, on Feb. 4, 2012; a daughter-in-law, Carol Ann (Gould) Holdren on June 7, 2009; and by two brothers and a sister.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Holdren, Benton; two sons: George Holdren, and his wife Shelby and David Wesner, all of Benton; a step-daughter, Carolyn, wife of Charles Levy, Mountain Top; two step-sons: Jay Koons, and his wife Christine, Nanticoke and Michael Koons, and his wife Margaret, Williamstown; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
