Dixie F. Bowes, age 54, of 115-B Fisher Run Road, Bloomsburg, died at 7:01 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was admitted on Wednesday. She had health problems for seven years.
Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on March 25, 1960, she was a daughter of the late Daniel J. âDukeâ, Sr. and Shirley H. (Winn) Bankes. She resided in Main Township for over 30 years.
Dixie attended Central Columbia High School.
She worked at various jobs during her lifetime, and was last employed as a van driver for Lone Derr, Millville; and earlier worked at Arnoldâs Country Store, Mainville, Walmart, the former Sunshine Laundry, and the Medicine Shoppe.
Dixie enjoyed reading, watching football and attending soccer and softball games. She loved hummingbirds as well as other birds, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She and her husband Daniel L. Bowes celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on August 18, 2014. Also surviving are two sons: Jason T. Bankes, and Kerry L. Bowes, and his fiance Valerie, all of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: Kaela Bankes, Ava Bankes, Victoria Bowes and Ayden Bauer; a brother, Daniel Bankes, wife Ann; and a sister, Deborah M. Miknich, all of Berwick.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Gordon E. Smith, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1-2 p.m.
