Dominica C. Stair

Dominica C. Stair, age 92, 117 William Street, Bloomsburg, died at 8:21 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Mahoning Township, where she had been a patient for six days. She was in failing health for the past several months.

Born in Berwick on October 27, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Veronica (Wasilauskas) Meskonis. She had resided in Bloomsburg since 1953 and previously in Millville for 14 years.

Dominica was last employed at Milco Industries, Bloomsburg for 30 years, retiring in 1982.

She was known for her love of animals, and enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family.

Dominica was preceded in death by her husband: Cephas Stair on January 28, 1983 and two sisters: Anna Young on March 14, 1997 and Helen Shaffer on March 28, 1997.

She is survived by a son: Cephas A. Stair and his wife Janet, Mifflinville; daughter: Joan E. Cawley, Bloomsburg and 3 grandchildren: Michael Cawley, Williamsville, New York; Shawn Stair, Mifflinville and Jan Cawley, Taylor.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with the Rev. Amy M. Raser, pastor of the Mifflinville United Methodist Church, officiating. There will be no viewing.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
