Donald E. Andes, age 82, Slabtown Road, Catawissa, died at 5:35 p. m. Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center, Bloomsburg, where he resided since November, 2011. He was in failing health for several years.
Born in Madison Township On July 17, 1930, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (DeWald) Andes.
Donald was employed by Bloomsburg Mills, Inc., Bloomsburg as a mechanic for 22 years, retiring in 1993. He then was employed by Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park from 1993 to 2011 when he retired again.
He enjoyed working outdoors, especially cutting grass and feeding the ducks and swans at Lake Glory near Numidia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Faye I. Fink, on August 9, 2012; by two daughters: Jane Marie Andes in 1973 and Virginia Andes in 1967; two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are a son, Donald E. Andes, Danville; two daughters: Connie, wife of Danny Dunchock, Harrisburg and Kathleen M., wife of Roy Grassley, Catawissa; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was the last of his immediate family and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Friends may remember Donald with a contribution to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 42 Ringtown Mountain Road, Catawissa, PA 17820.
