Donald R. Garrison, age 82, 18 Eyersgrove Road, Millville, died at 2:15 p. m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Balanced Care At Bloomsburg health care facility in Scott Township, where he was a patient since November 6.
Born in Conyngham on April 9, 1930, he was a son of the late Doyle and Violet (Knorr) Garrison., he resided on Creek Road in Fernville area from 1959 until recently.
He was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co., for 41 years, retiring in 1995. Don then was employed by the Press Enterprise as a courier for eight years, retiring again in 2003.
Don was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, and the Ft. McClure Post 804, VFW, both of Bloomsburg.
He served with the US Army in Korea during the Korean War.
Don was preceded in death by two brothers: Elwood Garrison and Glenmoore âPeteâ Garrison and by two sisters: Betty Shultz and Shirley Thomas.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marcella M. Tomko, with whom he celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary on November 8; four children: Dennis C. Garrison, and his wife Joan; Sandra L. Minnick; Scott A. Garrison, and his wife Holly, all of Bloomsburg; Brenda K., wife of Scott Haupt, Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Garrison, Berwick; and two sisters: Delores Miller, Bloomsburg and Audrey, wife of Carl Stair, Nescopeck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, by his pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with full military honors by the combined VFW group.
