DONALD F. MENSINGER, SR.
Donald F. Mensinger, Sr., age 82, 6306 Oak St., Bloomsburg (Lime Ridge) died at 8:36 a. m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was admitted late Sunday.
Born on May 11, 1928 in Main Township, he was a son of the late Fred M. and Agnes (Knecht) Mensinger. He spent his entire life in the Bloomsburg/Orangeville areas.
Don last owned the former Oak Inn, Lime Ridge, which he operated for six years, retiring about 1982. Earlier he was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co., Bloomsburg and owned and operated a farm near Orangeville.
He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing and especially watching the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Don served with the U. S. Navy during World War II.
He and his wife, the former Dorothy Buck, observed their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 3, 2010. His wife is currently a guest at the Orangeville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Also surviving are a daughter, Judy, wife of Randy Payne, Georgia; a son, Donald F. Mensinger, Jr., and his wife Jackie, Bloomsburg; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Don was the last of his immediate family having been preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Stephen D. Engelhardt, pastor of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg, officiating. Interment will be made in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with military honors by the combined VFW group.
