Donald E. Roup

Donald E. Roup, age 78, 191-C Black Bear Drive, Catawissa, a man with abundant faith, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 3:15 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Danville on June 2, 1937, he was a son of the late George Raymond and Mary (Gensil) Roup. Donald lived in Roaring Creek Township for 35 years, and formerly in Bloomsburg.

He worked at the former Magee Carpet Company, Bloomsburg for 13 years and retired from G.J. Littlewood & Son, Bloomsburg.

Donald was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Numidia and the American Legion Post 273, Bloomsburg.

He served in the US Army as a dog handler with the military police.

Donald liked to play cards; and after the death of his wife he chose to keep himself busy. He taught himself to cook and bake, and he loved to garden. He had a caring nature and was considerate of others.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dawn E. Evans, on March 13, 2008; six sisters: Helen, Mary Jane, Sarah, Nora, Pearl and Laura; and three brothers: Francis, Bob and George.

Surviving are two daughters: Debbie K., wife of Stephen A. Michael, Mifflinville; Donna E. Artley, and her companion David G. Reigle, Bloomsburg; a granddaughter, Sadie Artley, Calif.; two brothers: Richard Roup, Bloomsburg; Web Roup, wife Rose, Italy; and his extended family: Kenny and Joanne Thomas, Catawissa.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Viewing from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
